Cape Verde or Cabo Verde is also known as the land of “no stress” is a country made up of 9 small inhabited islands. Santiago Island is home to the capital city called Praia. Cape Verde is situated in the Atlantic Ocean with the nearest country being Senegal. The country is home to some of the most beautiful beaches, weather, natural wonders, and carnivals.
This Carnival Package starts on the island of São Vicente and will gradually have you seeing the whole country!
Why go all the way to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, if you can go to the Cape Verde Carnival on Sao Vicente, the Archipelago’s most colourful event of the year.
After the Cape Verde Carnival, we’ll give you a flavour of some other islands, by flying you to Santiago, Cape Verde’s biggest island and Sal, the Tourist favourite.

Itineraries
Day 1
Welcome to Cabo Verde
Once you have arrived at São Vicente airport you will go through all formalities and after you have come out from the immigration you will be met by a guide. Should it be that your flight arrives at night there will be snacks awaiting to fill any stomach which is empty. We will get on our bus and drive straight to our hotel for the night. We would not spend much time on briefings and allow you to check-in and settle in for the night. We will have welcome drinks in the evening where we get to meet our in-country trip leaders as well as everyone on this trip with us.
You’ll also get an evening to explore Mindelo, where we’ll show you around and take to you a typical restaurant where you can enjoy live music and an inclusive evening meal. There will be a welcome dinner by the beach!
Day 2
Carnival!!
On this day we take you on a mini tour of Mindelo, the city with the best carnival! Here you will be able to see groups preparing for the big evening event alongside how the town looks without the crowds of people.
This will help you easily navigate before the evening fun! After the mini tour we will head to the famous Laginha beach where you can relax and soak up some sun.
One of the most popular performances of Mindelo Carnival are the Mandinga groups. The Mandinkas are an ethnic group from other West-African countries such as Senegal and Gambia. As a tribute members of Mandinga groups started to dress as the warriors, as they would hit the streets of Mindelo during Carnival.
In recent years the Mandinga parades have become extremely popular, attracting thousands of people who join them.
Day 3
Tour São Vicente Island
Mindelo is just one town on São Vicente Island and on this day we plan to show you the rest. The day will involve a drive 750m up to Monte Verde (meaning green mountain), the island’s tallest mountain. From here, the panoramic views across Mindelo and beyond are breathtaking. You’ll visit some of the island’s most dramatic and varying coastline, as well as passing fishing villages and markets
Day 4
Island Hop
Want to cross islands like the locals? Well today you will! On this day we will take a short ferry trip to Santo Antão Island. With beautiful green peaks, jaw-dropping ravines and impressive cliff-hanging towns, just an hour’s ferry ride away is Santo Antão. As part of this Carnival package, you’ll enjoy a full day’s tour of the island, weaving amongst the mountains, visiting a local liqueur distillery and towns such as Ribeira Grande, clinging to the edge of mountains. Be sure to bring your camera, the landscape here is phenomenal.
Day 5
One last peak
You will have the afternoon to rest and relax in Santo Antão before we catch the ferry back to Sao Vicente again. Tonight is your last chance to join carnival festivities. We will arrange an access to exclusive parties so you can experience some real carnival vibes!
Day 6
New Island, New Adventure
After the carnival on São Vicente you fly to the island of Santiago. Here you will check- in, drop your bags and head straight out to see Cidade Velha with one of our specialist guides. Cidade Vehla is Cape Verde’s first official city and holds a lot of historical and cultural relevance.
Day 7
Explore Santiago Island
On this day you will have a guided tour around the country’s largest island. The tour will conclude at the top of the island on the coastal town of Tarrafal where you stay for a night
Day 8
Return to Praia
You will return to the capital Praia and have a free day to explore the bustling markets, city attractions and more! Feel free to relax on the sandy beach, explore the surrounding coves and watch the fishermen and their latest catch.
Day 9
Fly to Sal
We will be flying to Sal on this day. Here you will check- in, drop your bags and head straight out to see the Island with our guided tour. Start by relaxing on Sal’s golden shores and then we will take you to Santa Maria’s most cultural areas.
Day 10
Relaxed Day
This day will be free for you to choose to either relax or cram more activities in. We have a choice of activities such as snorkelling, dune bugging, kayaking and more to choose from.
Day 11
Farewell Breakfast
The tour will end on this Island with a Farewell breakfast. Flight drop off from this island are available also
